Axinite is now the collective name of a gemstone family. In the beginning, it was a not very interesting brown stone, but since then several color variations have been discovered, and there are even color-changing specimens Depending on their metal content, we distinguish: versions with iron, magnesium and manganese. Unfortunately, we use the name axinite for all of them, and even its color is not a clue to the quality of the metal content. The most valuable specimens of axinite also have a blue color. Probably due to the manganese in them. The blue color dominates in this rare multicolor axinite, so it is among the most valuable pieces. The rather large, 2.70 Ct, oval cut specimen came from Pakistan.
