The color of Kyanite, also known as distene, is traditionally some shade of blue, but since its discovery, other colored versions have been appearing more and more often. A green or banded green-blue version was discovered at the Brazilian site, and an orange version was discovered in Tanzania. Most recently, bright yellow kyanite appeared in Madagascar. This beautiful and huge 3.40 Ct oblong cushion cut orange specimen comes from Tanzania and is considered to be one of the rarest varieties of kyanite. This size is a real highlight of any collection. It is also interesting that small black crystal inclusions with a metallic luster can be discovered in it.
