Tourmaline has the richest color variation among the classic gemstone families. It appears in all colors of a rainbow, and it often happens that several shades of color are displayed within one specimen. These multi-colored stones are called watermelon tourmalines because the first such specimens found in Brazil were green and red, like a cut watermelon. Within tourmaline there are more common and rarer shades. From Mozambique, one of the richest current deposits of tourmalines, comes this beautiful, extended emerald cut, 3.46 Ct, special watermelon tourmaline, which is not the classic green-red version.
