Scapolite is a gemsonte that can have various colors, and although it is not one of the hardest, it is similar to opal, so it requires some attention from the wearer. It can be made into a pendant, brooch, or earring, but it is not recommended for everyday use as a ring, rather it is only recommended to be worn as an occasional cocktail ring. Yellow and beige scapolites are the most common, but there are also real rarities and delicacies among them. A real specialty from India is the rainbow scapolite. This exceptionally large 9.25 Ct oval-cut, originally straw-yellow specimen is filled with unidirectionally oriented magnetite inclusions, which iridescent in the light projected onto it at a certain angle in a rainbow color, as can be seen in the magnification. A serious collection cannot be without a rainbow scapolite!

This is a special Rainbow or Iridescent Scapolite, in which there are paralel Magnetite inclusions. This scapolite displays prominent iridescence in reflectedlight. It is rare that a scapolite like this is facetted, usually it has just caboshon cut. Very interesting and phenomenal gemstone.
